Juggling & Struggling or Thriving & High-Fiving?

Connect

Friends, can you believe we are nearly halfway through September?

For some of you, this is only the end of your second (or maybe even first!) week of school. Others of you have been back since July. Teacher calendars are weird.

No matter where you are in the journey, if you’re anything like me, you’re feeling the struggle and the juggle of all the things.

💡 Here’s your reminder: You are not alone.

Take a deep breath, focus on what truly matters, and give yourself permission to let a few plates wobble.

You don’t have to do ALL OF THE THINGS.
You just have to do YOU.
And you are more than enough.

🚀 GTA: SEASON THREE

Andi McNair and I just kicked off a brand-new season of the Great Teacher Alliance! We started this community because being a great teacher is both inspiring and challenging.

AND.... not everyone really “gets” what you do. GTA is about support, encouragement, and taking bold chances together.

In Episode One, we went BEYOND! Like… way beyond. What was supposed to be an hour stretched out as we explored E. Paul Torrance’s Beyonders and what that means for us as educators and for our learners.

If you missed the first episdoe, don't worry! There are NINE more!

Every episode is recorded, every resource is new, and this year-long adventure is open for you to jump in at any point.

Check it out at brianhousand.com/gta

🍇 GRIPES TO GRAPES WRAP-UP

This past week, Stephanie Higgs and I wrapped up Gripes to Grapes with a reunion of our summer crew. It was powerful to reconnect, reflect, and recharge. There’s a full six hours of video now available, so if you missed it, don’t worry, the vineyard is still open!

🧩 FREE RESOURCE ALERT!

Super friends Leslie Kerner and Chris Ryan just launched a FREE daily puzzle at silverquicken.com!

  • New puzzle every weekday (PDF disappears after a day).

  • Answers posted on Instagram: @silverquicken

🤫 Insider secret: If you missed this week’s puzzles, just hit reply and I’ll send them your way.

🎥 COMING SOON: GIFTED 360

Next week, I’m FINALLY diving into the recording process for the next GIFTED 360 Professional Learning Experience. It's a long-awaited and overdue project all about Developing Creativity in Your Learners (and YOU). I am sticking with the name “UNTITLED” (because… creativity is messy and open-ended and often indescribable), but I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of the process. Wish me luck!

🌱 A CHECK-IN

How are you doing? Are you juggling and struggling… or are you thriving and high-fiving? (Yes, I made that up, or at least I think I did. And yes, you can borrow it!)

I love hearing from you and you are really doing. Since the start of the new school year, I have heard from so many of you about you and your students are using the SEED book. The joy of the struggle, the growth in the challenge... that’s the good stuff. Keep sharing your stories with me.

✅ REMEMBER THIS!

You don’t have to have it all figured out to be making a difference.
Each day, you plant seeds, spark curiosity, and shape futures.
That is extraordinary.
Keep shining.
The world needs your light.

🛣️ THE ROAD AHEAD

If you’re in Columbia, SC at the end of the month, I’ll be keynoting the South Carolina Gifted Conference on September 29–30. Bonus: I’ll also be hosting Team Trivia on the 29th. Join us! → Register here!

That’s all for now from Inside Brian’s Brain… where the ideas are many, the coffee is strong, and the juggling never really stops.

Thank you for being you.

Brian

Happy 90th, Joe Renzulli: Real Problems, Task Commitment, and the Beautiful Mess of Type III
Today is Joe Renzulli’s 90th birthday, and I cannot let this moment pass without a little celebration from inside my brain. And by little celebration, I mean cue the confetti cannon, roll out the houndstooth carpet, raise a cup of Wapatooli, and for goodness’ sake, get yourself a folder. Because if there is one place where all of this Joe magic feels fully alive, it is Confratute. And next w...
HOW IS IT JULY?! Inside Brian’s Brain Update
HOW IS IT JULY?!?!? Seriously. I checked the calendar twice, and apparently we are already here. So, Happy Birthday, America! Two hundred and fifty years is a lot of candles, a lot of fireworks, and a lot of explaining to John Adams why we did not follow his calendar notes. In a letter written on July 3, 1776, Adams confidently predicted that July 2 would be the day remembered with “pomp and p...
Inside Brian’s Brain: Summer Tour, A Real Vacation, and Being Built Different
Hey friends, We are officially through the first part of the Summer Tour, with stops in Grand Junction, Colorado, Baldwin County, Alabama, and the Utah Gifted Conference. And wow. I love this work. I love seeing people in person. I love connecting with amazing educators who are doing incredible things in their learning environments. There is something deeply energizing about being in rooms f...
