May-Cember, Mazes, and the Summer Tour Begins

Hey, how are you?
I miss you.
Sorry I have been so quiet for so long. I promise I have not disappeared into an undisclosed rabbit hole never to return. Although honestly, that does sound like something I might do.
I have mostly been keeping quiet and keeping busy, working on some BIG projects and deep rabbit holes that are progressing slower than I would like. You know that special kind of timeline where the ideas are huge, the to-do list is feral, and your brain keeps opening new tabs without permission?
Yes. That.
And now, somehow, we have reached the heart of May-Cember.

That magical time of year when schools are filled with field trips, testing, awards, parties, packing up, goodbyes, final grades, surprise paperwork, emotional whiplash, and at least seventeen people asking, “Can we just do one quick thing before summer?”
Sure. Absolutely. Let me just locate my remaining executive function.
Well, next week marks the official launch of the Summer Tour 2026, and it is going to be a LOT. 10 in person events in 7 states plus the season finale of the 3rd season of the Great Teacher Alliance!

Things I learned while trying to create this image with ChatGPT: locating specific cities on a map is apparently not an area of strength!
In other news, I have been really enjoying the daily puzzles from Silverquicken. They are scheduled to run through June 12, and they have been a bright little spark in the middle of all the May-Cember madness.
And speaking of puzzles…
If you really love puzzles like I do, you should check out LETTERINTH from G. T. Karber, creator of Murdle: https://letterinth.com
It combines some of my favorite things: quotes, mazes, logic, and that delicious little moment when your brain says, “Wait. I think I see it.”
I think this would make a fantastic bell ringer puzzle.
Even better? Challenge your students to create their own mazes and Letterinth-style puzzles.
In the SEED book, we include quite a few mazes and even tips for creating your own. Turns out, making a good maze is harder than you probably think.
But also easier once you know how.
Which is true of a lot of things.
Looking for more maze inspiration? Dig into this glorious rabbit hole of different types of mazes and labyrinths!
Because obviously what we all need right now is one more rabbit hole. Actually that is exactly what you need.
Thanks for reading this. I would love to hear from you. What are you doing during these final wild days of the school year? What are you surviving, celebrating, finishing, abandoning, or pretending you will get to in June?
Thanks for being you.
I hope to see you real soon.
Brian
