We are down to the ELITE EIGHT on Curious Quotes and Universal Themes! Last week there was a close competition between a pair of former Presidents and "a walk in the park" for Mr. Rogers and Albert Einstein. We have one more week of voting in these four competitions. Remember your votes decide who moves on to the FINAL FOUR next week.
VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES HERE!
BARACK OBAMA 48% - RONALD REAGAN 52%
This one was back and forth all week, but in the end Ronald Reagan representing the theme of CONFLICT managed to pull ahead Obama and team CHANGE. Next Reagan faces Kate DiCamillo in the Elite Eight. CORETTA SCOTT KING 46% - KATE DICAMILLO 54% DiCamillo representing PATTERNS held the lead for the entire week. Coretta Scott King and SYSTEMS attempted the comeback, but perhaps there were just too many words on the slide for her to carry it across the finish line. The Kate DiCamillo slide is one of my favorites of the collection for homage to the covers of the Choose Your Own Adventure book series. NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON 39% - Maya Angelou 61% I really thought the Tyson quote about EXPLORATION had a real shot of winning the entire competition, but the always wise words of Maya Angelou representing ADAPT pulled off what is in my mind an upset. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 63% - Twyla Tharp 37% This one was never even close. King and FORCE simply out maneuvered Tharp and STRUCTURE in every way. I can't wait to see how Dr. King measures up against Maya Angelou! M. C. Escher 33% - Abigail Adams 67% Escher and ORDER VS CHAOS never even had a chance against Adams and CONFLICT. Interestingly, this is the second quote from the theme of CONFLICT to make it to the Elite Eight. Malcolm X 29% - Albert Einstein 71% In design and layout, these are two very similar slides. Personally, I like the PATTERNS made by the Malcolm X slide better, but it seems that so many were bigger fans of the quote by Einstein for FORCE. This is the second entry into the Elite Eight by FORCE which I find very interesting. Mahatma Gandhi 60% - Ernest Shackleton 40% Gandhi had the POWER to overcome Shackleton and theme of EXPLORATION. There's a lot to LOVE about the Gandhi quote. Let's see how he shapes up against Mr. Rogers who is the current favorite to win this year's Quote Madness. Saint Augustine 24% - Mr. Rogers 76% In the biggest blowout of the entire competition, Mr. Rogers and the theme of RELATIONSHIPS completely dominated Saint Augustine and STRUCTURE. It is interesting to note how this quote relates to the MLK quote. Will Mr. Rogers and Dr. King face off in the FINAL FOUR? Your votes will decide! VOTING CLOSES APRIL 11, 2021 AT 11:59PM ET
